How it works

Your India visa photo in 3 steps

The camera guides you, the software measures, and every rule is checked before you pay.

  1. Take a selfie

Take a selfie at arm's length and the camera guides you on distance, tilt and light. Or upload a recent photo.

  2. We make the right format

The AI crops it to the square e-Visa format, sizes your face, sets the background and checks every requirement.

  3. Get Your Photo File

We email you the digital photo within minutes, once the final automated check passes. It is ready to upload to your application on the official Indian e-Visa website. Email only, nothing is mailed.

Three tips before you take the photo

Get these three right and the software handles the rest.

  • A woman holding a phone at arm's length, with the distance to her face marked 16 to 20 inches

    Take It As A Selfie

Hold your phone at arm's length, 40 to 50 cm (16 to 20 inches) from your face. The guide sets the distance.

  • Two photos of a woman side by side, one facing the camera squarely and one turned away 16 to 20 inches

    Face The Camera

Hold the camera at face height. Keep your head straight and your expression neutral.

  • Two photos of a woman side by side, one lit evenly by a window and one with a hard shadow 16 to 20 inches

    Ensure Even Lighting

Stand facing a light source, such as a window. Don't worry about the background.

Photo requirements

India visa photo requirements, in plain words

The India e-Visa photo has its own rules on shape, file size and background. Each one is explained below.

  • Size And Shape

A square JPEG, with equal height and width. The file must be between 10 KB and 1 MB.

  • Background

Plain light or white, with no shadows or patterns.

  • Face

Full face, front view, eyes open, the whole head from hair to chin.

  • Pose And Expression

Face the camera with your head straight, eyes open, mouth closed and a natural expression.

  • Glasses

Take them off. The e-Visa photo rules ask for a photo without spectacles (glasses).

  • No Edits To Your Face

We crop, size and set the background. We never retouch or change your face.

Before you pay, the software checks size, background, pose, expression, glasses and lighting. It cannot tell how old a photo is, so take a new one for your application.

Why e-Visa Photos Get Rejected, and How We Catch It

The most common reasons:

  • a photo that is not square
  • glasses
  • a busy or dark background
  • a file under 10 KB or over 1 MB
  • shadows across the face

The software builds the square e-Visa format and checks for each of these before you pay.

What we do not do to your photo

We crop it, size it, place your head correctly and set the background your document asks for. We do not change your face, your features, your eyes or your expression. The photo has to look like you.
